THE TEAM
The Clerk’s Office embraces emerging technology enthusiastically and the Technology Services Team provides the technology platform, software solutions, and technical support across our various business units. We are the key department responsible for the successful delivery of software and hardware solutions while ensuring the ongoing support and training of our office, partners, and constituents.
THE JOB
Infrastructure and Security Specialists focus their day-to-day on maintaining and improving the technology infrastructure stack as well as implementing and monitoring security systems. This requires supporting network and server hardware and troubleshooting specialized line-of-business networking and infrastructure equipment; so, you will need to be technically focused and customer centric. This role is highly technical and requires reading and understanding technical documentation. Infrastructure and Security Specialists often work in a fast pace but enjoyable environment supporting the high availability of our technology platform for our line-of-business applications.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING (DUTIES)
- Provide onsite network troubleshooting.
- Provide onsite and occasional remote support for network equipment.
- Ensure a complete and timely solution is provided for network issues.
- Ensures data backup of line-of-business applications and critical systems.
- Provisions data center resources as needed to support line-of-business applications.
- Maintain firewall and anti-virus policies as needed to support line-of-business applications.
- Installation and support of networking hardware and infrastructure services.
- Manages security and control measures across multiple computer platforms.
- Assisting in projects with the entire Technology Services team.
- Stays current on advancements in technology; identifies and assesses opportunities to improve services for the benefit of our users, customers, and the public.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (TECHNICAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES)
- Strong knowledge of network troubleshooting and networking terminology.
- Strong knowledge of networking equipment and virtualization technologies.
- Strong knowledge of Linux-based operating systems.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Possess CompTIA Network+ and/or Security+ certification (or equivalent industry credential).
- Practical network and/or security experience is strongly preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred.
- Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationship with supervisors, co-workers, government officials and the general public.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, automated environment with many interruptions.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
