Clerk III/IV – Board Records

Pay Range: $36,483 – $49,192 (Non-Exempt). This position includes a generous benefits package including health, dental, vision and supplemental insurance in addition to enrollment in the Florida Retirement System (FRS).

Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Director of Board Records, this employee is responsible for performing clerical and/or record keeping tasks required in the daily activities of work as well as recording, maintaining, and retrieving records, facts, and minutes of the official business of the Flagler County Board of County Commissioners (BCC).

The Board Records/Clerk III/IV position is in the Board Records Department and will primarily have responsibilities in:

  • Attend BCC meetings and others related to county business as needed
  • Electronically record the meetings; take comprehensive notes; and retrieve information requested during meeting
  • Transcribe and distribute minutes of the meetings using existing notes and electronic recordings
  • Correct any errors or omissions from previous meetings
  • Perform a variety of research activities including detailed records retrieval of previous actions
  • Communicate important issues to Director of Board Records.
  • Assist Director of Board Records with Value Adjustment Board petitions.
  • Respond promptly when returning telephone calls and replying to correspondence
  • Perform other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will, embrace emerging technology enthusiastically and express the willingness to observe, learn and enhance existing electronic processes. A general understanding and working knowledge of standard business systems including Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook strongly desired.

A minimum of a High School Diploma is required, with at least six or more years of county government secretarial experience; and/or specialized coursework in secretarial, business, and computer science is desirable.

The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of business English, spelling and punctuation. The candidate should have extensive knowledge of the operations, functions, and scope of authority of departments and offices related to handling and disposing of information and requests for information from the public.

In addition, the ideal candidate should have considerable knowledge of the Flagler County Board of County Commissioners, county departments, special committees, authorities and/or councils that the BCC directs. The candidate should perform duties with minimum supervision.

Also, the ideal candidate should maintain effective working relationships with officials, departments heads, other employees, and the general public. The candidate should be fluent in English, able to type proficiently; work flexible hours; multi-task, and be detail-oriented, accurate and organized. The candidate should be able to sit for extended periods of time.
